3rd August 2013 Saturday – In a preseason friendly at the Glucksgas Stadion the Tigers scored the only goal, care of new signing Yannick Sagbo after 14 minutes, via an Aluko through-ball, which Yannick pounced on and was behind the defender before he knew what had happened, and the new striker stabbed a shot below the blocking body of the goal keeper.

Dynamo Dresden had been excluded from the DFB Cup so they are staging an alternative competition (a bit tongue in cheek) called the fdgb Cup named after the old competition held in GDR times (the former German Democratic Republic), and invited the Tigers to take part.

City played a great first half in very hot conditions against a good well drilled Dresden team.

The Tigers started in a 4-3-3 formation with Aluko and Brady as wide-men and Sagbo up top, with Elmo making up the back four alongside Chester, Davies and Fiqueroa.

Hull City: Allan McGregor, Ahmed Elmohamady (Liam Rosenior 46) James Chester (Aaron Mclean 82), Curtis Davies, Maynor Figueroa (Joe Dudgeon 46), David Meyler (Eric Tie Bi 62), Robert Koren (Paul McShane 62), Stephen Quinn (George Boyd 46), Robbie Brady (Matty Fryatt 62), Sone Aluko (Danny Graham 46), Yannic Sagbo (Nick Proschwitz 62) Not used: Eldin Jakupovic, Alex Bruce

Dynamo Dresden: Benjamin Kirsten, Cheikh Gueye, Romain Bregerie, Idir Ouali, Filip Trojan, Mickael Pote, Anthony Losilla, Tobias Kempe, Thorsten Schulz, Christoph Menz, Cristian Fiel. Bench: Markus Scholz, Nico Pellatz, Marco Hartmann, Soufian Benyamina, Alban Sabah, Adam Susac, Robert Koch, Sebastiean Schuppan, Paul, Milde, Marvin Stefaniak, Toni Leistner, Tobias Muller.
