8th January 2014 – It’s announced that Mark Clattenburg, the recently in the news Official will referee the lunch time kick-off between City and Chelsea at the KC this Saturday.
Clattenburg sent off two Chelsea players Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres in their 3-2 loss against Manchester United. He has been in the news twice recently, being accused of inappropriate remarks to players. Both times (one against Chelsea’s Mikel) having the complaints dismissed by the FA.
Clattenburg has only ever sent off one Hull City player. It was Bernard Mendy on 21st November 2009 in a Premier League drawn (3-3) game against West Ham at the KC.
